John has followed powerboat racing from the late 60’s and comes from a Class III racing family his father Terry was an ardent Class IIIb supporter and racer.
A returning veteran to powerboat racing. Previously winning a Class III National Championship along with club awards.John retired from racing actively in the late 80’s after being a regular competitor for many years. During his sabbatical from racing he has enjoyed a successful flying career working overseas for a head of state. He was honoured with a title and made a Chevalier or his service. That said the only horse he seems interested in is that from a powerful outboard or big block. During this break he has competed in off road motorcycle racing wining club titles. He returned to powerboats three years ago when he purchased a early 90’s catamaran which he fully restored and updated.John will be back in the co-driving seat where he has enjoyed great success in the past.

John says:

“I’m really looking forward to the coming season; It is a great opportunity to return in such a classic race boat & classic event. I never thought that one day I would be getting the opportunity to race a boat that I used to watch from the cliff tops. I think we can be a very competitive team especially if we exploit the strengths of the Planatec hull to the full.This first season will be a good test & establish a rhythm within the team before the power & drive replacements in 2010”
